Content Designer - Intelligent Investing
Location: Remote, Canada
Reports to: Senior Designer
Base Salary: $60,000–80,000 CAD, depending on experience and demonstrated taste.

About the work

Intelligent Investing is not building a social media account. We are building an institution that documents the reality of capital allocation. Our content is closer to a publication than a feed — calm, precise, and made to be respected years from now, not to win the afternoon.

We have more ideas than we have hands to make them. That is the job. You will take a strong observation and a clear direction, and turn it into finished work - a lot of it, at a high standard - under the guidance of our senior designer.

This is a craft role. You make things. You make them well, and you make them often.

What you’ll make

Most of our output is built from a few strong anchors, expressed many ways. One observation becomes the poster, the carousel, the Signal, the essay layout. One idea, multiple expressions — never the reverse.

Day to day, that means:

  • Poster and image posts, carousels, and typeset Signals - the pieces that make us recognizable.
  • Layout for essays and short films so they read like a publication, not a slide deck.
  • Fast, clean variations of approved concepts for testing and distribution.
  • Keeping the library of templates, source material, and reusable creative organized as it grows.

Volume is real here — but it rises by adding lighter pieces, never by thinning the important ones.

Publish and listen

You also own how the work goes out, and you keep an ear on how it lands.

  • Run the publishing calendar and schedule across our channels — a steady, consistent rhythm.
  • Watch how pieces perform: what earns saves and shares, which anchors return people, what quietly falls flat.
  • Listen to the audience — the recurring questions, the objections, the language people actually use — and bring it back so it sharpens what we make next.
  • Flag anything that needs a real reply — a customer, product, or sensitive issue — to the right person, fast.
  • Deliver a weekly performance report on a fixed schedule, covering engagement, saves and shares, follower growth, return visits, and the specific pieces that drove results.

This is publishing and listening, not performing. Replying in our voice, engaging publicly, and speaking for the brand stay with the team above you — reviewed, deliberate, never improvised in the comments.

The standard you’ll work to

The look follows the Michael Mann school: realism, competence, restraint. Real light, real materials, a cool and composed temperature. The work observes; it never performs. Status comes from what you leave out.

Two tests, every time:

  • The mute test. Paused and silent, does it read as an institution studying reality, or as an ad? We keep the first.
  • The witness test. Does the frame feel witnessed, or designed? Real desk, real page, real street — cropped and graded until the meaning already there becomes visible.

And a short list of things we refuse, always: hype, urgency, meme energy, reaction-face editing, the golden “luxury” grade, the swelling score, anything that reads as an advertisement the moment you mute it. A serious idea delivered cheaply becomes a cheap idea. The form has to match the substance.

You won’t hold this bar alone — your senior designer reviews the work, and the ideas come from us. But you have to be able to feel the difference between calm-and-alive and calm-and-dead, and fix the second with specificity, not volume.

What this role is not

  • Not idea origination. The observations are ours. You make them real.
  • Not the brand’s final gate. You work to the standard; your senior holds it.
  • Not community management. You publish and you listen — you are not the voice in the comments.
  • Not a churn machine. More is better only while the standard holds.

What you’ll bring

  • Real output. A body of finished, made work — not decks about work. You ship, and you ship a lot.
  • Command of the fundamentals. Typography, composition, crop, and grade held to a cinematic bar, not a social-template one.
  • AI-native execution. You use AI fluently to move faster across drafting, layout, and variations — while keeping your own judgment over craft and final quality.
  • Restraint. This is the one that matters most. You can make something quiet that still lands. You know what to leave out.
  • Enough literacy to serve the idea. You can lay out a written observation without flattening it, and take direction without needing every decision spelled out.
  • Hunger and speed. You want to make a lot of excellent work and get sharper fast. This role has real room to grow.

How to apply

Send your portfolio. With it, include one thing:

The single piece where you left the most out — and two or three sentences on what you removed, and why.

We read that first. It tells us more than a reel does.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a short, paid exercise: one observation, turned into finished work.
